I do agree that a cat's purr is healing. It definitely relaxes me. And relaxing and resting is so important for healing.

Yes. I always do everything I can to encourage a sick kitty to purr, I am sure it helps them.

My cats are very nursey when I am sick too. I love it. But they can be even more intuitive. My kitty Bibbs (rb 3/05) had this thing she loved to do. She enjoyed jumping from a height onto my stomach. I think she liked to hear me say OOOF!

Anyway, one time I had abdominal surgery and was very concerned that she might hurt me. Instead, for the entire time of my recovery she would approach me very carefully, then oh-so-gently lie herself on top of my incision area and purr and purr and purr. Never once did she jump onto me.

Once I was all recovered she went back to her old habits.

Oh, and going WAY back, my cat Baby (rb 1/98) would settle himself onto my abdomen when I had periodic cramps and use his warmth and purr to drive my pain away. Better than any heating pad.
