A while back my Son found this little duckling who was being attacked by the bigger males in our apartment complex. He rescued it and nursed it back to health before taking it to a lady in Ft Lauderdale who raises them.
He was the cutest little guy and would follow us around and sit between our feet, like we were his parents.
Don
He loved his playtime in the kiddie pool we had for him.
I took him outside one day to get some sun and all he wanted to do was sit between my feet, I guess he felt safer there.

You were his parents! Your son would be one who doesn't put up with bullying from any species. We need more like that, much more.
Aww. My former spouse once brought home a tiny sparrow that we successfully returned to the 'wild.' So nice to hear success stories =)
