I lost Momo a little over 3 weeks ago. He was hyperthyroid, had CKD and most likely IBD. I have learned quite a bit over the last year with regards to his health journey. I believe that this knowledge is what sent me to the vet with Rusty. He's always been a very active and rambunctious guy; very vocal, rowdy and full of trouble. This behavior has only slightly increased; however, his water intake and urine output increased significantly. While Momo was still here, there was always lot of pee in the litter box. It wasn't until Momo was gone that I noticed that there was still lots of pee in the main box.

Because I'm the "litter box whisperer", I know who pees in which box and who covers and who pees and runs.

Off to the vet we go where we learn of the hyper-t diagnosis. The vet thinks that we caught it early, which is good.
Rusty hasn't lost any weight and his fur still looks great.

I had given the three pens of Methimazole that I had to my vet after Momo passed since I didn't need it and maybe someone else could use it. Lucky for me, the vet hadn't had any patients that needed it........until our appointment.
Looks like I paid it forward - to me.

Thumbs up to you! I caught this early in our Benny too. He'd started waking me up early for food, which he had never done. He goes in regularly for blood work and was on the high end of normal. At the next appt it was higher, so we started him on meds.

My condolences on your loss.
