Wondering the same...my biggest cat is 15 lbs....he urinates in just one spot right inside the box. I'll probably need to keep one regular box.
Or how many cats use one automatic box???
I have 3 cats, 2 med size, one lg.

I've got a Mainecoon and have looked at the automated cat boxes. They seemed to be incredibly too small for my cat to fit into. Does yours struggle with fitting into the box without her behind hanging over the side? The cat box mine uses is about twice the size of a normal one (the label on it said puppy litter box) and even that one seems just barely is the right size for her.[/quote]

The one we got was called a multi cat one. He does fine. In fact he actually uses only 25% of the box. I would think this one could handle a Maine Coon up to 20 lbs at least.
Is so, describe your experiences, good and bad...or offer suggestions
Thanks
I've had a litter robot for about 4 years. What I have found that almost none of the off the shelf brands of clumping litter as good as the Litter-Robot Premium Clumping Litter.
Since we were down to 1 cat and he is a 16lb exotic, I decided to try Scoopmaid By LitterMaid Self-Cleaning Crystal Litter Box. The litter trays supposedly last 30 days for 1 cat. I've only had 1 last 21 days, the rest 7-10 days. They are inconsistent at best. The real issue is three trays cost $45. That's ridiculous.
We also rescued a kitten a few months ago and now that his poops are elephant-sized, we are lucky to get 7 days out of a tray.
We are going back to the robot this weekend and may add a second one soon.

It's ridiculous even if they did last the 30 days.
Absolutely! When I bought it, a 3 pack was $22.95. I don't know what the heck caused the prices to double.
BTW. Teaching speck to ring a bell for a treat. Video soon.
Or he's teaching you to give him a treat when he rings the bell. I hope you don't discover the Feline Law of Unintended Consequences the hard way, when he starts ringing the bell at 3:00 am for a treat.
I'm thinking little Speck just might be too smart for your own good.

Very smart. I read about someone years ago who toilet-trained their cat and even taught it to flush. Well, apparently the cat really thought that was fun, because at 3 AM it was *FLUSH*..*FLUSH*..*FLUSH*..*FLUSH*.... I can't imagine the owner's water bill...or how you would go about untraining that behavior!
