Daisy will get up on the kitchen counter and push the treat jar across the counter with her nose until I "notice" and give her a few. She and Lucky have me well trained.
Can't rep but

Hee hee, that's Jackie precisely...after he knocks something off he turns to see my reaction...

He knocks everything off bedside tables, counters etc. Most of the time though, it's something unbreakable.
I get it.

We have one that makes the rules, as far as what is allowed on the kitchen counters. If she doesn't approve... it is on the floor!
She doesn't have a reason, as far as wanting to get our attention... she is just the self-appointed kitchen decorator.

I have a cookie jar that has been in the family, since I was 9 years old. It is only allowed in a particular corner. Oh, and no cookies are allowed to be stored in it.

We change the behaviors that we can, and roll with the ones that we can't.

If you spent a lifetime living with cats and studying their psychology & behavior, the bottom-line conclusion of all that knowledge would be the above bolded sentence.

We have a tabby cat named Tsunami. He will go into the bathroom, open the cabinet drawers, and then let them slam shut until we go fill the bathroom sink up with water for him to drink. He will do the same thing in the kitchen when he is hungry.

I read their minds are so simple and sweet...like a child's...anything they do is to get our attention...and they do learn if they do something that works ...do it again.
No big manipulation or calculations...just simple 2+2...even if they pee in your shoe...it's just to get your attention...not meanness or spite as many think.
Just my unsolicited info I learned.

No not spite....just their way of saying they want something. I never get angry
but do get frustrated on occasion....

My Ninja peed on my laundry and other things until I gave up on him being indoor only. There is NO smell worse than male cat pee!!!!

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed soaking things in Nature’s Miracle 3-4 times and then washing them 2-3 times either.

Now we are both happy.
