Heard that on the 6:00. Heart failure.

He lived a good, long life.

In that pilot a woman won a color television. It was worth 899 dollars, more than a vacation to Hawaii!

$899 back in 1963 was a lot of money. I think a good salary was $4000 a year.

A new car was about $2500. Color TV was almost half the price of a new car then,
now TVs (or any electronics) are cheap, cars not so much.

RIP Monty

Wow! Notice when watching the video that there isn't the nonstop irritating screaming/yelling that today's LMAD show has? Much more subdued, and very relaxing to watch!

Monty was no zonk, in fact he was quite a prize. He was in the top tier of my all time favorite game show hosts, in the top 5 at least, behind Bob Barker and Dick Clark. Very smooth and polite, and salesman like. His show had a nice feel to it, kinda surprised how far back that show goes, I would have guessed early 70's. It was rare for a game show to be done in color back in 1963, looks good.

I wonder what the '63 Tempist had under the hood? Too bad nobody won that car on the first show. I would have kept the covered wagon, I knew that was worth some money, even back in '63. Trying to figure out what I could do with the goats and the bales of cotton, it might have worked out OK. I would have kept the silver dollars too, I smelled that trick, 2 1/2 ounces of paper money vs all those heavy silver dollars? They knew you would get tired of holding that box and would easily be steered to the cash. Never pays to be lazy on Let's Make a Deal, you need to be packin' everything but the kitchen sink for that show, lol.

I think Wayne Brady does a good job with the new show, he really throws himself into the role, very talented fellow. If that show had a different time slot, I would watch it more often, it comes on at 2 here, but wish it came on later in the afternoon around 4, as I don't care much for the new Family Feud which airs at that time, or right after Price at Right at 11 AM. I should record it because they give away nice prizes and it is a fun show.

RIP Monty Hall

He always kind of creeped me out. Struck me as smarmy on the show. He was so rude to his assistant on the show (Jay Stewart); always calling him fat, stupid, etc. It just bugs me. I wonder if the constant ridicule contributed to Jay’s suicide.
