That's not entirely true. Water with an electronic that has power can and most certainly will short something and destroy it. Plug your computer in. Stick it in a full bathtub. It will be destroyed.

But, without electricity applied, that is correct. When I need to clean someones filthy keyboard at work it never fails to shock someone when I take it to the kitchen and proceed to rinse it in the sink.

Thanks everyone. I found a place called UbreakIfix near me that will diagnose it for free so I can see if it has short-circuited or if it still works. It was plugged into my charger when the water damage happened, so it might be toast for that reason but we'll see. If they find an issue and are able to fix it and get it working, there's a charge for that, but I can decide if I want to go that route depending on how much it will be.

I didn't see price & cannot say if they work, but our local Walmart now has a self-serve "drying machine", if anyone is interested. Up front, next to the Redbox, etc.
