I have a galaxy S5( 4 years old) and was planning on upgrading. I've rooted the phone and have oreo on it, but the battery life is terrible and I'm getting sick of it. The Pixel 2xl is 550($300 off) with a 2 year contract with verizon(I have to pay back a prorated $200 discount if I leave) and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. Does anyone think I can get a better price than this in the next year? Or even wait a year till the pixel 3xl has been around about as long as this one? Do people think the pixel 3xl will have major upgrades worth upgrading for? Wireless charging isn't important for me. Same for retina scanners.
What is everyone's thoughts?

For an extra $100 you can buy it straight from Google with no contract that works on any carrier.
And get a free Home Mini.

Screw waiting. Get it.
