Say goodbye to some competition at the lower end of the wireless market. T Mobile and Sprint have announced a merger, valuing sprint at 26 billion dollars as of T Mobiles closing price.
We'll see if the Trump administration blocks this or lets it through. Personally I think it's better to have 4 nationwide carriers versus three, but we'll see. In 2011 ATT tried to buy T-Mobile but the Obama administration blocked it, and the wireless industry is much better for consumers because of it.
But a combined T Mobile and Sprint would be roughly the size of the big 2 (Verizon and ATT) so this has a good chance of going through.
