I've done some hiking prior to moving here last year (mostly easy to moderate). I found a nice trail that starts in Awendaw - The Palmetto trail. Did some walks on that this weekend which was rather pleasant.

Anybody know of any other good hiking trails in this area?

That trail takes you all the way to Greenville if you follow it through....

But that is about all of the wilderness trails in the area...

Here is the webpage for SC trails: SC Trails Hiking Trails

I'd love to go hiking somewhere nearby, too, but I'm curious to know of everyone's experience, positive and negative. I'd likely be out there alone, and while I don't worry about getting lost, I worry about safety, such as crazy folks and dangerous predators like poisonous snakes. An 8 year old boy was stabbed by a 16 year old boy (with his mother nearby and all) on the trail that I used to walk back home and since then, I worry about going out alone.
