I am looking to relocate to the area from Florida. I will have to rent for 6-12 months. I am also unable to work currently. My concern is that I've been in a very unfriendly expensive area here 2 years. I don't want to get into the same situation. Anyone have experience they can share doing a similar move? Or suggestions? My income will initially be very limited also.

Generally speaking, you'll find it very friendly here. As for expensive or not, that depends on what you're comparing it to. If you can tell us just what you be needing/wanting and what your budget can afford, we can help you get an idea what's available.

Thank you. Have to keep housing low (for now) at around $625-$650. I have one dog. And, stairs are o.k. but not a necessity.

$625 - $650 is pretty low for the Charleston area. Are you open to having housemates?

Unless you can take a second job to increase your income, a budget of $650 won't get you much in this area.

I just moved and chose the roommate route. Mostly for the convenience of figuring out what area I want permanently.

I've seen lot's of places on CL specifically looking for female roommates in your price range. Even in nicer areas like MtP.
