We are meeting some relatives who live in Florida and are driving up to Charleston (we are driving down from Asheville area) for Thanksgiving and exploring Charleston together which we have never been to before.

Can anyone recommend some nice restaurants downtown that will be serving traditional Thanksgiving dinner---hopefully near the King Charles Inn on Meeting street downtown so we could all walk there if possible. Is driving hectic and crazy in that area?
Thanks for any tips/help finding a restaurant.

I work right in that area and I don't find the traffic to be too hectic. The only thing to watch out for is the pedestrians. I always inch my way up to the stop signs in case there are people about to cross that I can't see because of the buildings. I can't help you with restaurants because we don't typically eat out downtown.

I just booked Thanksgiving dinner at Poogans Porch. 37 per person which is much less than other nice places I checked out. It is filling up fast so reserve soon.
On another note MountainRose...I lived in Asheville for 29 years. We moved to Sarasota Fl 2 years ago. We will hopefully be moving to Charleston in early 2012. Yea!

You'll love Poogan's. That would have been my choice. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone---called Poogan's after your recommendations, but they are totally booked on Thanksgiving. We'll be there for a few days, so I will try them on another night.
I booked at Magnolias and at High Cotton (will cancel one a few days before) as they both had openings at decent times left.
Thanks for all your help---am looking forward to exploring your wonderful city.
