Has anyone here every shopped around for the best prices for a MRI? I know there are smaller MRI providers around as opposed to the hospitals.

We just had one done for my daughter. Before insurance, it was around $3K. It was at Charleston Imaging. I would also try Imaging Specialists if I were you.

Palmetto Primary care has it's own imaging center across the street from Trident Hospital.

Where I used to live, I would take the doctors orders for a MRI and call around to difference imaging centers to get the best price. I was surprised to see the differences in pricing. Even when I sued insurance, there was a substantial variance.

Yes. A lot of medical facilities will give a cash discount, especially if you plan on paying the full balance up front.

Thanks for the info. I did shop around and gave the wife a couple of options. I did the math for paying cash...it did not work out to my favor with my insurance.

I always go to MUSC and the insurance pays. I am thankful for insurance! But, I think they are reasonable and also work with people that have to take longer to pay.
