Where to move to near Folly? (Charleston, Folly Beach: rent, crime, house)

Taking a job in the Charleston area (Folly Beach), and am looking for housing in a low/no-crime area, within 30min driving distance from home to work.

Looked at Johns Island, James Island, and Charleston.... anywhere else I can look?

You should find plenty of options in these places. West Ashley would have options too.

James Island is your best bet, just moved here in September from GC and love it. I'm at the beach roughly 5 times a week (all seasons) to surf, kiteboard, walk the dogs, etc. JI is really convenient to everywhere in Charleston, especially downtown and Folly.

Have you not been able to find anything on James or Johns Isl? What are you looking for in the way of budget? Ok to share a house or do you need your own place? Folly Beach is "The Edge Of America" as they say so there's only so many places within 30 min.

James Island is closest to Folly and there are plenty of options on the Island. Windermere and Avalon are within 30 minutes but rent in these areas is sparse and expensive.
