Coleman is mentioned often as a "happening" place in MP.

Have been on it a few times - just to a few places though - GDC Home, Verde, Moultrie Plaza, Pages Okra Grill, Red Drum.

Is there a bar scene at night or is it the restaurants that make it popular?

Lots of stuff going on on Coleman ... Public House, Americano, Shelter, tons of shops, bars, other restaurants/bars, farmer's market, new residences going up, and of course Shem Creek ...

Thanks. Will have to explore some more!

When does the Farmer's Market start? Would like to check that out.

Is Coleman walkable? I didn't notice if there were sidewalks, or how compact things were. I've seen people dodging across 17 now and then and I think they must have a death wish.

There is a push on in Mt P to make Coleman walkable & with sidewalk action. Juanitas Greenberg's (Mexican restaurant) has sidewalk tables & cornhole games setup (in a narrow space). Finz Bar & Restaurant has a rollawalk wall to bnring the bar outside onto the sidewalk area. These are both south of Shem Creek. The newer Black Sheep has a sizable street patio dining area. And Shelter has a porch for outdoor dining. I would call all of these "bar scenes" & none are on the creek itself. Enjoy!

I think calling Coleman 'walkable' is a stretch. If you live off of it you can manage without a car, but it's nowhere near like downtown where you can come from somewhere else, park, and walk to several spots within a couple of minutes walk of each other.

The new Shem Creek restaurant called Tavern and Table is pretty good. Definitely raised the standard in this area. But if you are looking for a hot dog, there's always the hardware store, or Skoogies.
