I like to visit Charleston, it is a great tourism destination. But, for folks to jump on Columbia is way off base and shows how little they know about the state capitol.

And, the thread's title is misleading.
More tourists in the same way that Savannah does, your on a major highway and count anyone grabbing lunch on the way through as a tourist that is.

Sorry Led, you have no idea what you are talking about. If that were the case, we would count the 40m folks who use Charlotte Douglas each year. But, you are just wrong here.

As a former Northeasterner, I can assure you people are not flocking down to Charlotte on vacation.
Going down on business, perhaps. Moving there to live, perhaps.
But vacation?... No.

No, the thread title is not misleading.

No, Charlotte does not have more tourists than Charleston. LOL!

It is pitiful that a thread like this turns into a debate and darts are thrown.

By tourists, he means business people on business trips and at industry conferences during the week, at at NASCAR races on weekend. lol

G Vegas and Chuck are too upscale and genteel to allow NASCAR into our fair cities. We don't have much time for anyting but architecture, history and whatever Ravenel is having. lol

If you wear a corporate tag around your neck, you are not a tourist.

"Upscale"??????? for trailer parks. Charleston I will give you, it has a lot of nice areas, Greenville.....not so much.

And, you are partially correct. Charlotte attracts about 16m visitors each year, a lot more than Charleston's 4-5m. Folks could visit for the NFL, NBA, the PGA, the most upscale shopping in the Carolinas (I see a ton of Charleston cars at Southpark on the weekends), business, Carowinds, concerts that ONLY come to Charlotte, restaurants, events, business, folks visit for a lot of reasons, all 16m annually.

As for the thread, yes it is misleading, Charleston is not the #2 city in the world, it is the #2 city to visit according to a magazine, huge difference.

Folks stop at the DMSB for a lot of reasons because it is a leading business school in this country.

lol, Pelham Road seems nicer than Savannah Highway or Rivers Avenue to this humble reporter. The nice part of Charleston metro, Daniel Island, Sullivans Island, Isle of Palm, Daniels Island, aren't lived in by the middle class. My street, Father Hugo Drive, located near prestgious Thornblade Country Club, is essentialy an average starter home neighborhood in Greenville. Check it out on Google.

You can stop cutting and pasting off of Charlotte chamber website, this thread is about the greatness of Chuck. don't try to steal their thunder. Nobody over 25 cares about Carowinds or concerts and those pro teams are essentially minor league teams given their consistent poor preformances. lol
