Hello All:

My husband and I are planning a trip to Charleston the week before Christmas. Can anyone suggest a good, safe area to stay at that is somewhat walkable? We don't mind driving into the historic area or to other attractions. Several Holiday Inn Expresses came up in Charleston, has anyone ever stayed in one or know if there are some in a safe area and not too far out?

Thanks.

If money isn't a problem, stay at Francis Marion Hotel

We have stayed many times at the HIE right over the bridge in Mt Pleasant. You are less than ten minutes to the historic district. Parking is easy enough in Charleston, just look at the map of public garages.Don’t expect to find street parking.

Im coming down in a couple of weeks for an awards banquet and Ive compared the price of the rooms to other places. I could have stayed there cheaper than other places. I think my wife said the guy told her our room was $280 or so for one night. But I dont know how much of a discount that is since she is the one getting the award, and we dont have to pay for the room. Out dinky little room in IOP was more than that last year. (I know, not a true comparison) I wish I had caught it earlier could have saved multiple trips into town.
