It was very depressing to tour Fort Sumter and hear the "yankee" whitewash to what happened. They make the yankee officer in charge to be some sort of hero. The southern perspective is completely eradicated at Fort Sumter. What a shame. The terrible havoc the yankees raked on the south's civilian population truly labels them as the original nazis. sherman was a war criminal. It's refreshing that when you go to places like Gamble Plantation or Olustee National Battlefield, you can still get the truth and see the clouds part to show the true sky. If only Lee didn't go to Gettysburg, we might have still kept some integrity in monuments like Fort Sumter.
So slave owners are much better than Nazis (both are bad)? Before the war, just by looking at the numbers, there is no way South will win. Yet, the South decide to break from the Union and consequently suffer the lost (btw, the rich Charleston were still rich even after the war (heck, even today from all the slavery money). It was the average person that suffered the most after the war. The only thing I don't get about the Southern conservatives is that how patriotic can they be (even today) when they are the one once wanted to break up the union.
500,000 americans died because of yankee aggression. Camp Douglas, Pt.Lookout, Ft. Delaware should always be reminders of the blue blooded inhumanity. Why can't we also see the Bonnie Blue Flag flying high over Fort Sumter as a tribute to all americans who gave their lives.
