This latest development for Charleston along with WVU and WVSU to host a 2016 presidential debate could be monumental of the city in both prestige and hosting future high profile national events. The city is flush with first class hotel rooms all centrally located with more on the way, has a state of the art world class debate hall, loads of parking on all sides for media trucks and a massive CCC floor that can be used for the media headquarters. All in all it looks like a winning bid. The only thing that might hinder it is the small time airport. Wish Charleston officials would have agreed to the Lincoln County site 8 years ago.......Hell it would be up and running by now. But let's hope for the best. I've always thought Charleston needed to think bigger!

I agree, the airport situation may be the biggest hurdle for the bid.

Also, hosting a debate could give the city a kick in the rear for its efforts for more cleaning and maintenance of downtown streets, sidewalks, buildings, etc.

Hope that this happens! It would be great for the city and the state's reputation as a whole. A lot of negative publicity has happened around the Charleston area in recent years (mostly disasters), and the city deserves to be showcased in a better light than it has been. We have a great capital city and great facilities at the Clay Center to host a debate.

Considering one of the members of the Debate Selection Committee is a Charleston native (and old Charleston High grad), we might actually have a shot.
