Electrolux North America's new laundry research and development center continues the Swedish appliance-maker's expansion in Charlotte, adding 60 new jobs and growing its local employment total to 925.
They unveiled the new center on Thursday, showcasing new products that included a fast-cycle washing machine whose tub spins at 1,400 revolutions per minute – equivalent to a Ford Mustang going 130 mph.
Electrolux also donated $20,000 to Vance High School’s Engineering Academy. The school, just outside the University Research Park, home of Electrolux’s North American headquarters, will use the money for robotic parts and equipment, Computer-Aided Design technology, and tablets and computers.

Electrolux said it is in talks to buy General Electric's appliance division.
The deal would allow Electrolux, which had $16.7 billion in sales last year, to surpass Whirlpool as the world's No. 1 appliance maker.
Electrolux employs about 900 people at its North American headquarters in Charlotte, and plans to double its workforce there.

Awesome, merger of too good companies with great reliable products and strengthen job security for the 900 employed there. So glad they chose our beloved Queen City
