Chapel Hill-based Solar Strata has filed an application with the N.C. Utilities Commission to build a $22 million, 4.5-megawatt solar farm in Kings Mountain. It would be the second-largest solar farm in the state behind a 15.5-megawatt project in Davidson County. Strata plans to sell the power it generates to Duke Energy.

Cool! Down in the area where the one in Kings Mountain will be, there's a bunch of buzzards who roost there in the winter. Guess they'll be looking for new winter quarters.

That's an awful lot of money for a dinky 4.5 MW.....peak, a few hrs on a sunny day...I assume it's taxpayer funded. I don't think anyone else would throw away that kind of money...

I'm not sure what all is included in the price. I googled the address. It's better than half way to Grover, & not too far from the bigger solar farm.
