How is the commute from Monroe to let's say..having to travel to WESTPARK DR. in CHARLOTTE (zip 28217)? Secondly, how is MONROE in general as a family oriented area?

Monroe is a nice place - fewer newcomers so it has retained more of its southern roots. It's not fancy, but it makes a nice home. As for that commute, I would not personally do it. West Charlotte to Monroe puts you going thru some hellish traffic. I'd say in rush hour look to be in the car for over an hour. If you worked in off peak hours, that might make it okay, but still at least 35-40 minutes.

West Park Dr is not too bad (I work near there). You won't avoid the 485 mess, however, you would avoid the mess to uptown.

There was GREAT thread about Monroe a while back that I loved reading through. We are on the border of Wesley Chapel and Monroe and I just love Monroe. Hope you enjoy reading it.
