Love the very helpful info that I've been able to undercover from this forum. Thank you! My family of 4 (2 small children with one getting ready to enter kindergarten) is moving to the Charlotte area. We have our sights set on Tega Cay, Ballantyne, Palisades and a few other areas.
We will be moving from the beautiful Pacific Northwest where we enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, riding bikes, boating, running with our dog, and just enjoying the outdoors. We are very community oriented and enjoy getting to know our neighbors, yet not being on top of one another with small lots.
Which of the areas I've identified, or others that you think we should consider looking into, do you think best fit our interests?
Top schools, safe community, family-oriented, outdoor lifestyle community (husband golfs) are all top priorities. We will both be working uptown in professional jobs, so commute time is also a consideration. Our price range is in the $350-$400k range.
Thanks very much in advance for your help.

The Santuary also looks pretty amazing, but definitely out of our price range!

Based on your wishlist you may want to visit River Hills in the town of Lake Wylie. It meets all of your needs.

RHCA - Charlotte Gated Community | Waterfront homes, golf, marina access

We moved here from the San Francisco Bay area 11 years ago and love it. Feel free to DM me if you need further info on the Lake Wylie area.

River Hills looks wonderful - thank you for the suggestion. Are there walking trails? We're very interested in a community we can jog around with our dog (and kids in the jog stroller!).

There are walking trails throughout the community and also a 5 acre waterfront park with a beach.

We looked at some homes in the Palisades a while back. The information that I got from this board (and other sources) was that they (i.e. their HOA, etc) was having some financial issues, so that may be something you want to look into further before seriously considering in that area.

Toll Brothers is moving in to build at Palisades... They are about to permit another 140 acres for development, so I'm guessing that will help that area greatly...

I had heard about the HOA stuff in the Palisades as well, but I have clients in that neighborhood and it is very lovely. It is not run down in the slightest, and there is still quite a bit of building going on. Everyone I know that lives there has been pleased w/the neighborhood. OP, it's definitely worth checking out!

Wonderful feedback - thank you all very much. How is the commute time (during rush hour) from Tega Cay to uptown?
