The missing persons is probably parents whose kids wandered off for a couple minutes.

But there's been 3 suicides within 1/2 mile of Southpark?

Interesting info. The worst of the worst offenses seem to gravitate towards Northlake. Although with Southpark's, denser, more urban setting, you'd think it would be worse than it is.

What worst offenses? From what I can tell SouthPark is higher on all the "worst" offenses: armed robberies, arson, sex offenses, auto thefts, and hit and runs

But ani's point in the other thread is worth considering as far as looking at these stats in relation to how much traffic each mall gets. Does SouthPark have that much (if any) more traffic than NorthLake?

This statistic only has some comparison meaning when considered together with the population/traffic number for same covered area.

is shoplifting the worst of the worst? That seems to be the only stat that pops out in NL's favor.

Everything else is leans to Southpark when it comes to more serious crimes...

IMO it sounds like the appearance of the patrons at NL is turning perception into reality.

I am surprised Southpark was that bad. When I shop around there I feel like the poorest person in Charlotte.

SP is one of the largest business districts in the state. Like 28173 said, there is no comparing apples to apples as the two areas don't come close in comparison, especially 1/2 mile out.

Well it depends on how you look at it. The two stats below show a pretty wide difference in SP favor.
Larceny-Shoplifting .......... South Park 251 North Lake 341
Larceny from Auto ............South Park 63 North Lake 94
Larceny-Pocket Picking ......Southpark 0 Northlake 5

Whereas, these stats are too close in similarity to even make a case, imo.
Armed Robbery ...............South Park 3 North Lake 2
Auto Theft ......................South Park 9 North Lake 7
Other Criminal Charge ......South Park 24 North Lake 17

The bottom line is this. Thugs are opportunists. They go where the people go and where the money it. You just have to be careful wherever you go, more in some places, less in others. I know Sunny tends to favor NL and feels it gets a bad rap compared to SP otherwise he wouldn't have listed these stats to try and prove otherwise.

If not on a per capita basis, these numbers are worthless. Could present an accurate picture, or could be absolutely misleading. Reader beware.
