Got an opportunity to relocate from Ft Lauderdale, I need info about utilities, car insurance, schools, everything about cost of living. Another area of interest is Fort Mill, or Indian Land. Family of four (kids 8 and 3). Thanks

Charlotte is a big area. Are there any areas in particular you are looking at or things you want to be near? I personally love Union County, and I think the cost of living and schools are excellent, but I came from up north so I am comparing it to something different than you.

I'd say utilities are not exhorbitant if you live in a modern dwelling (built last 30 years or so) and keep the temperatures in sensible ranges, and limit your living space 1600 sq ft or less. Don't worry about it, winters are not that bad. Maybe $350 a month if there is a hard, cold, month under the assumptions I just gave.

NC has lower auto insurance than most states due to its "contributory negligence" laws. I drive a 4 door sedan, no points, bought $300K liability + uninsured motorist coverage, it's about $600 a year.
