Well the video makes it sound like they understand the challenges associated with the area at least. A community center and magnet school should definitely help the surrounding area, as they did also acknowledge many times how diverse it was.

This is an amazing project. Definitely puts Charlotte closer to competing with Atlanta.

I didn't realize this would be the largest movie studio on the East Coast, Charlotte would definately have some bragging rights there!

Yes sir if Atlanta has it WE NEED IT. As far as a ski course just WHO is going to pay to go there? Check out the Nascar Hall of Fame and the millions they thought would pay to go there and haven't. Build what they want but dont use one penny of my taxes for it.......PS The white water center has not produced the attendance the developers said would happen either has it and my taxes support it......I cry scam

Projections are a joke. Just because x number of people haven't visited an attraction doesn't mean it isn't successful. To my understandings, the Nascar Hall of Fame lost money a few years ago because the attendance projection wasn't met. Then they showed signs of improvement the next. The Whitewater Center is exclusive to Charlotte and almost everyone I know that's visited has went. A ski slope isn't in your typical city, so I do think many people would visit.

Another City Fair? - This is Chapter 12 scene 1 "build it and they will come". The land and area would be better suited for "HipHop Land" something like a Disney World.

Are you kidding? Projections are used to cost justify a project as either self sustaining or needing public assistance. The Nascar HOF used very lofty and incorrect projections to justify the city borrowing a huge sum of money from the banks with the notion the ticket sales would be used to pay this loan back. It didn't happen and now the city is forced to subsidize it with taxes. The HOF attendence has not improved and it continues to be far far below what was needed to make it "successful".
