There are a lot of folks from Buffalo and Western NY in Charlotte. I grew up in Rochester, spent 12 years in the Buffalo area (West Seneca, Williamsville, Lockport). Although I love Western NY because it is "home", I love Charlotte equally.
The weather is certainly better here, people are nice, taxes are lower, gas is cheaper, housing is abundant and affordable, jobs are available. The area is so clean, and green, and (for the most part) the sun shines every day. (In contrast to Buffalo, which seems to have a perma-cloud over it from November through March).
The things I miss? Tim Horton's coffee, Wegmans (and cheaper grocery prices), easier commute.
We love it here, and don't regret our decision to move here for one moment. Feel free to PM me if you have more specific questions.
I m from buffalo have been living in charlotte for 8 years now. Travel to buffalo to visit family every year. I would have agree with the previous post. Another plus here, only 8 hour drive to orlando florida . Everything is so new looking especially uptown which is downtown area. Plus side of buffalo is the road system there.
I'm astonished by the rent in Buffalo. Are there certain neighborhoods that are cheap because no one would want to live there?
