Due to a growing family, we are evaluating whether to move to Charlotte. We have family in both New England (CT and MA) and Charlotte so both are ideal locations. One thing we are uncertain about are the school system because we read that Greater School ratings can't be compared across state lines. In general though, due to financial considerations we would prefer public schools if possible. Looking for people who have had experiences with both CMS and New England schools to help compare and contrast them.
The school districts we are considering in New England are (they seem fairly similar in ratings) are: a) Old Lyme, CT b) Stonington, CT c) Chelmsford, MA
The areas we are considering in Charlotte are: a) Elizabeth neighborhood b) Providence Plantation area
Based on our research, all of these places should have decent school systems relative to the area. Would appreciate any input from those with experiences in both New England and Charlotte (class size, curriculum, charm, cleanliness, PTA, etc.) to help us understand what may be different between an education in these two regions. While we are interested in all grade levels, elementary school will be coming in focus first.
