One of the largest developments ever in Charlotte: 4,000 homes and apartments, 500,000 square feet of retail, 8 million square feet of office space, hotels, green space/parks, and a public waterfront.
Looks like a great proposal. It was always interesting that Charlotte never used the Catawba to its advantage. I can see riverfront retail and housing being very attractive in the region. This proposal would take a while to finally build out but it looks like a good idea overall.
Wow, it does sound great. The Ballantyne area is very nice and it will be nice to have something similar on the west side. I like the concept of it and it sure will attract people. . I wonder when the proposed date to break ground and finish would be.
The Dixie-Berryhill area could use some development. I hope the proposed River District offers a balance of smart development and natural preservation.
Was the proposed Garden Parkway planned to terminate at Interstate 485 and West Boulevard? I think the proposed development would go through what was the study area.
This development won't be SouthEnd type dense but the residential portion is as large as Balantyne along with more proposed office space on less than half the acreage of land. The airport/southwest sub market is likely to develop into a economic edge city that may eclipse Balantyne & SouthPark in importance.
