I'm 44 and will be bringing my mom with me. She's in her 60s and uses a manual wheelchair fyi.

I took her to Freedom Park a few weeks ago over Memorial Day weekend and we both really enjoyed that. Went to North Italia for dinner and Swirl for some really good cookies afterwards. It was a nice time as we don't get out of Columbia much.

I'll be driving up again to Charlotte from Columbia sometime during the 4th of July weekend. Note: We have to leave Charlotte around 7 pm at the latest, so we plan to get there early in the day. (So we won't be staying around for fireworks events at night or anything like that fyi.)

I thought about just taking her back to Freedom Park again, but I also know it's probably going to be super hot by that time so that may or may happen. Any/all suggestions/recommendations as to things to do are appreciated.

Thanks!

Picasso exhibit at the Mint Museum would be nice (and mostly indoors so that's a plus)...plenty of places to go eat afterward nearby. The Mint off Randolph is another option.
Browse Sleepy Poet to kill an hour.
Make your own candles at Paddywax.

Hopefully others will have some additional ideas. Enjoy your visit with your mother.
