With Charlotte uptown growing and citizens wanting retail downtown do you think the next developer should do something like Time Warner Building In Columbus Circle ? A great mix of highend and midscale shopping

What retailers have announced interest in uptown?

It has been speculated since July Lakeland, Florida-based supermarket Publix has interest in a store uptown. SkyHouse Uptown has been mentioned as a possible location.

Depends on (A) Lincoln Harris plans for the observer property & (B) the effect of Edens redevelopment of the Atherton Mill. Anthropologie opened last fall& Free People will open this fall. Urban Outfitters, Banana Republic,J Crew & Patagonia are other stores that may open a location there

Might as well add (C) a grocer at least 29,000 square feet in size, Publix's smallest prototype size.

I think there is easily room for both.

Also in the immediate near term, Bank of America Plaza renovation might have a couple stores and not just restaurants.

Stonewall Station (beside the Westin) will have a large Whole Foods, a Whole Body and there is still more retail space.

I think theirs room for both also, I see SouthEnd as home of boutique type retail & Uptown leaning more towards big box retail. The difference is Atherton is slated to start next year& IMO SouthEnd has the better bones to become a stroll type retail district.
