I have not had a job since 2012 because of family issue. This summer, kids are off school and finally have some time to go find work again. Its been so long, I don't remember my work history anymore. Does anybody know where I can find a copy of my work record? I will need it when I go in to apply for job. Unfortunately I can't call in my workplace because they are out of business.

Any help will be appreciate it.

Thanks!

Did you work through a temp agency? If so, they would have your record. Otherwise, there's no one central reporting agency that keeps track of your work history for you. You're supposed to do that yourself.

You can try The Work Number, they have history from many large companies, but it will not include every company out there. There is not one big database that has everywhere that everyone has ever worked.

If you've registered with the state employment service in the past, they might be able to pull it up. Get a flash drive for this purpose.

There is no central work record. No one can tell where you worked unless you tell them.

Your previous employer being out of business can work to your advantage. I know back when I was in your position I fudged a date here and there knowing that no one could check it out.

Anyway, of greatest interest is going to be the last 4 - 5 years or so....

If you can remember the names of your employers but not the exact dates, check with social security at the following url:

https://secure.ssa.gov/RIL/SiView.do

You'll have to create an account and remember all of th sign-in data because I believe that signing in voids SS from the responsibility of mailing your statements. It'll all be online.

The dates and the amount of money that you made at that time may jog your memory.
