An African American advocacy group calling itself T.H.U.G (True Healing Under God) just called for an economic boycott of Charlotte at a Press conference that is live on TV now. It's being carried by all the local stations.
Presumably they are telling African Americans to go and spend their money elsewhere.
Not sure what that is supposed to mean. Are Black people supposed to go buy groceries in Matthews, Pineville & Huntersville?

I'm guessing that the press could have a field day checking up on that guy & the group. He came up to the mike & announced that he was from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He did not use the native pronunciation of Kalamazoo. I would know that because my paternal grandmother's family was in Kalamazoo & Kalamazoo County since 1842. I would guess that he is a professional agitator.
terrible acronym. These types of request arent for you to understand. It doesnt mean buy groceries in South Carolina. It means if at all possible dont spend money at big box retail shops if you can get it from a local mom & pop shop.
if you are going to buy lunch, dont go to McDonalds, go to Floyds.

First, a group calling itself True Healing Under God is an advocacy group for specific Americans of African descent rather than a religious organization? I wonder how taking God's name into vain is working out.
Second, I do not know how an economic boycott will work out this week. Many were not expecting to pay more for gas. They will be watching their money carefully this week and not going out of their way to shop.

There is such a thing as faith-based advocacy. It's done for all kinds of groups: women, immigrants, etc.
That said, I don't know about this boycott thing...I think the fallout from HB2 is doing more than enough on that front.
My concern is when a faith-based organization ceases to be based on faith and religion. Calling for an economic boycott on an event irrelevant to faith and religion is beyond the scope of faith and religion.

trust me, the dollar always speaks the loudest. If Black folk didnt come to CIAA next year, the city will ask for a sut down and ask leaders how to move forward.
Another great thread from Waldo Kitty. Really hitting the heavy issues.
haha, you know he woke up with a pep in his step and did a little dance before going on line this morning.
