Slight tangent, it's absurd that the state controls the alcohol sales, but anyone can sell guns..

Tangent aside, there are so many unique whiskeys from around the world and I'm limited to the rather bland selection at the ABS stores. Any suggestions? I know mail order is one option but I would like to buy some gifts in a very short time frame.

Thanks!

South Carolina stores have a better selection. They may not include the rare or foreign sources you wish. Frugal at Carowinds and Southern Spirits south of Ballantyne are my best choices. It is true that North Carolina, with state stores, allows mail order liquor sales and delivery because this is not taking business from a private owner within the state, only the state itself.

If you want something different, check out the liquor store 5081 Charlotte HwyLake Wylie, SC 29710

They have some cask strength, for instance 59.7% Aberlour.

Looking at the list, honestly smaller selection than I expected. With those prices I would go to SC.

Buy the cheap stuff and age your own! There are countless recipes, and you'd be amazed at the results.

Mini Oak Barrels | Whiskey Barrel | Wooden Barrels for Sale - Deep South Barrels

I was only referring to the whiskey, the SC stores seem to have larger selections.

Reminds me of the pineapple, the brown sugar and the Bacardi.

Stateline and Frugal MacDoogals, literally, right across the border in Fort Mill. Bigger selection and much lower prices.
