Hi all I've been thinking of moving for awhile and lately, Charlotte, NC has got my interest.
Some information about me:
I've been living in the Denver metro area for several years
In December, I'll graduate with my BA in Geography from CU Denver.
Right now, living with a family member, I'm rent-free, but many apts around here with roommates, are $800-1500. Living alone- $1500-2500 (overall, cost of living is expensive)
I like Denver and Colorado. The weather is great, the suburbs are great, endless outdoor activites, but I don't fully use what Colorado has (I don't ski/snowboard, don't smoke marijuana, but I love many aspects of Colorado and would look forward to differences in another state).
Some people have been telling me the amount of jobs there and that cost of living is lower than the Denver area. I feel like I need to move when I graduate to start new chapter of my life (as silly as that may sound). I'm still unsure what area of work I want to work in, but I have been taking interest in shipping/supply chain kind of jobs, hospitality management, and I see that Lowe's is headquartered nearby there, possibly look at what positions they have.
Since I graduate in December, I am planning on visiting in January, and will probably visit other cities around North Carolina. If I like the area as much as I do on paper, I'll apply for internships or jobs and go from there.
Anybody move to Charlotte and it meeting their expectations or any major surprises?
Clt is 2.5 million metro compared to denver's 2.8 million. Clt has hot and humid summers and mild winters. The area here has been a boom town for a number years so many if not most of the people will be transplants. The clt is also a hot spot for millineals. Clt has around 20 or so craft breweries and there are a number of lively bar districts that are in and around downtown which is called uptown here.
