Looking for a place to have my birthday dinner that serves all you can eat crab legs on Tuesdays. There is another forum on here, but it's 5 years old...looking for fresh recommendations.

I have seen them in Chinese restaurants and other places. Call the Chinese restaurants.

I really should have reiterated - please no chinese places. I am leaning more towards a non-chinese, non-buffet style place.

I used to do Capt' Steve's all the time.

I went last year and was surprised at how fast it appeared to have gone downhill. I didn't do the Crab legs, but the fried seafood was horrible. Oil was old, service was miserably slow considering how few people were there.

I understand. There is a place in Mooresville also called Captain's something or another that is reputed to be very good and has all the crab you can eat. Locals rave about this place. Might be worth a check out.

I'm similar to you, been going for years, then skipped awhile when I moved a bit too far away to visit often. Some friends that still lived in Charlotte mentioned it had been on a downward slide. I tried it an agreed with their assessment. BUT, I really should try again to see if that was just a bad night. Hate to make a judgement after all these years based on one visit recently.

There are few surviving "fish camps" around the area. I used to frequent The Captain's Galley over on Indep. Blvd, then the Hideaway, then finally Steve's.

Thank you for the suggestions!! Ended up going to Red Lobster (no judging, please..lol), but do plan to check out Capt. Steve's - have heard good things about them - especially the one in Ft. Mill.

I was going to suggest Red Lobster. We use to do those all you can eat crab legs back in the 80's there but I wasn't sure if they were still doing that. No reason to judge. They were pretty darn good.
