Yes I currently reside in Augusta, Ga and would like to move to the Charlotte-Metro area. I know it will be almost impossible to find a nice apartment that will allow for me to bring my dog along just due to his breed. Yes he is a Pitbull Terrier but as most of you know out there there are not REALLY bad dogs. in fact the only way my dog would hurt you is by wagging his tail too hard from being happy to meet you. I am a very responsible owner and have taken full responsibility for my dog every since he was a puppy. I have been sure to associate him around people and dogs almost on a DAILY basis since he was about 8 weeks old. He has been professionally and personally trained. And i have currently taken the Canine Good Citizens Award into consideration and plan to complete this also. He is 3 years old also.
I just would like to know if anyone out there could possibly point me in the correct direction of a person(s) who could help me out in this situation. I do wish to live in a nicer part of town and not more of the "southside" type areas (no offense meant at all. just want security as priority). I am willing to talk with an on site landlord if need be. also he is an INSIDE dog and will not be put outside so if a place you may suggest requires him to stay outdoors then that is no possibility.
no website on the internet so far has helped me out in the least in my search so im guessing i will have to ask people directly.
i've met some fantastic dogs that fall in the bully breed category, but i do agree with you that you may have some problems with apartment complexes/private rentals in the charlotte area not wanting to rent to you based on breed alone.
if you find yourself in a bind after you've looked around but still want to come here, please send me a dm. i know someone who loves pits and might be able to help you out.
the only problem is, the rental unit isn't in the very best area of charlotte. it's not the worst area either, but...well, we could talk about it further if you find yourself without other options.
thatman_blaze...I was in the same predicament a while ago with a Rottie. I had zero luck finding an apartment that would allow a Rottie.
What I did was rent a condo from an owner who normally don't care what kind of dog you have (if they allow dogs). Try Craigs List and the Observer classified.
