I went kayaking this weekend and was hooked. I think this has to become my new hobby. Anyway I have done a little research but does anyone out there know of any kayak forums/places where I can get some advise on equipment. I plan on going down a few rivers but probably need to take a class first. Does anybody know of places to find this sort of information? Thanks in advance!
CHOA has a whole bunch of kayak classes/clinics in the next two months. You do have to be a member but you can check out info on their website. I LOVE kayaking..but I just broke a finger and am out of kayaking commision for most of the summer. Paddle 1 for me! I worked in a kayak/canoe shop for two years and gained some knowledge and when I was at an outdoor sports store once just asking basic questions...not so much knowledge. If you can find a speciality shop I would take that route..
PS..my favorite brand of kayak is Perception and on a search of there dealers in NC i came across a few different shops that should carry a variety of products.
Great Outdoor Provision Co. is also a great resource...
