A friend of mine has asked about the reference to Kirkwood Ave. in Dilworth being called "Crackwood" Told him I have no knowledge on this subject.
Anybody familiar with the current situation on this street/area? History of the area?

It's right beside the Bi-Lo at the intersection of Park/Ideal Way. Kirkwood is between McDonald and Park. I think it used to be shady but the area around it is now nice so it has seen some redevelopment. I don't think there are any single family homes on the street... mostly rehabbed condos/rentals. If the Bi-Lo shopping center gets redeveloped then I would see this street improving at a much faster pace.

Yeah, it dead ends into Magnolia on the other end. Not a long street, and not all that attractive at the moment. But there does seem to be a good bit of renovation going on. It's kind of strange feeling, with houses on one side of the street sitting high above the other because of a slope/embankment. The street feels a little disconnected from the rest of the area and is kind of tucked away. It doesn't have the quality of housing stock of some of the other streets, nor are the lots that big. My understanding is that it used to have its share of issues with some renters/tenants, but is getting better.
