Quick question. I'm potentially looking to move to NC within the next year...I'm currently looking at a job in Salisbury, NC. I notice that many of the rental prices/home prices are fairly low. Is this a city with a lot of crime/bad neighborhood?
If I work in Salisbury, what would be the best place to live? We plan to rent for 1-2 years until we purchase a home. I really don't want to have a commute longer than 30 minutes, and as far as rent prices are concerned, i can go as high as 900/month. I would prefer not to live near a college. Crime tends to be higher near universities. I know that Livingstone college is in Salisbury...is this a reason why crime statistics are so high?
ETA: I am a soon to be married (Oct 07) African American woman. (no children). I know some user's views are based on schools districts, etc. Well, we don't have to worry about that.
ETA again: I guess it helps to search.
I have found a lot of helpful information about Salisbury. Seems to be like a quaint little town. But - I would like to know if some of these smaller towns are tolerant of African Americans. I'm not trying to move into a Rosewood type situation, as I am from Cleveland, OH. (tongue in cheek)
Please advise.
