Hi,
I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. I pretty much grew up in and around Fort Lauderdale, FL. Moved to PA 10 years ago (with x-fiance, which was an improvement, but winter's just last too long here. The rest of my family lives in Boca, so I am very familiar with it. The difference between Charlotte and Boca - (first off I wouldn't live in the city, but either above it - Lake Norman area, or below <my preference> Lake Wylie) the people are much nicer and polite. It does get hot in the summer, but you actually get a chance of seasons. I do like the beach in FL, but the lakes above and below Charlotte are fabulous. Its a much more family oriented area. You get more flowers and flowering trees - no palm trees - yuck. Bugs aren't as big and plentiful as far as I can see. No aligators! Its just much nicer. I would never move back to Florida, and my family is there.
ttfn,
Gayle
I am from Coral Springs to Charlotte. I originally lived in New York(love) to New Jersey(hate) to Florida. I also lived in Boca for years(love, love). Bottom line, if you want to deal with hurricanes, overpriced housing, high taxes, etc. etc. you live in Florida. The people in N.C. are terrific. In the highly desirable areas there's tons of traffic. Make your plans from 9am to 4pm. Slower pace. Great if your married with kids. People are very family oriented. It's really nice. During the fall the scenery is just breath taking, if your into that sort of thing. South Park in Charlotte is high-end shopping-(Nicer than the Town Center) Don't know much about the single scene if your not married. I am still learning my way.
