I am heavily considering attending one of these schools in Fall 2018 and I would love it if some natives could give me more information. What are the vibes of the two schools? Would you say one is better than the other? Are they both open-minded environments? Is Charlotte a great place for college students to find activities to do?

Both schools are considered good schools. UNCC is in Charlotte and closer to downtown. I'm not sure if they have completed it, but they were building an extension to the light rail (mono rail system) from UNCC to downtown. There are restaurants, clubs, concerts, sports arenas, etc. downtown. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping areas around the college. It is a much larger school than Wingate with a diverse student population.

Wingate is in Wingate. Wingate is in a more rural area that, depending on traffic, could take at least an hour to get downtown. It's a smaller campus and there isn't a lot around it as far as restaurants or shopping. You would have to travel around 15 minutes to Monroe for restaurants or shopping, but mall shopping would be about an hour away to Carolina Place Mall. The Monroe Mall has Belks, the JCPenny and Sears are closing soon.

I have known students that attended both and were very happy with their choices.

Look at the cost of both. Go the cheap route. Uncc has more. It has a nicer campus. They let just about anyone in these days.

Two completely different schools/campuses. You really need to visit both and decide which has more of what you want. It also depends on your major as Wingate is a much smaller school with more limited majors.

UNCC would be your best option then. Lots of professors have state and federal contacts so getting a job after would be easier.

That may be your perception on admissions but UNC Charlotte has had tremendous growth in number of students yet acceptance rate has steadily decreased down to low 60%.
