Hi - I have recently relocated to Davidson from Colorado. I'm moving my horse this fall, and have just begun to search for a good place to board. I am an eventer/foxhunter - and I'm looking for a good barn with adult amateurs who ride well. I do not want a barn which is exclusively hunter/jumper or dressage - (foxhunting is not the same thing as a hunter - they should be, but are made up of entirely different types of riders nowadays!), nor one that caters to kids or which boards 30 or more horses.
I have a 9 year old Clyde/QH cross, and I prefer a stall/turnout setup for him. He's sane, I'm sane (I can provide references for us both), I just want a nice, low key barn with knowledgable people who are safe and capable riders.
I've found Runymede, Southlake, Sundance, etc. - all hunter barns who cater to the show ring. I'm willing to board from Huntersville up to Statesville. I found one private barn which is too far away, and one great barn in Statesville, but it's a competition-based full service barn and the price reflects that (lovely facility/people, just too expensive).
Any tips or help is appreciated. Would be open to boarding with a member of Yadkin Valley Hounds, as I plan to explore joining them this fall.
Post this on the NC Horse News message board (NC Horse News serves horse owners across the state of North Carolina). There are quite a few folks on there that live out that way and they might have some suggestions for you. I'm on the wrong end of the state to be of any help
