I have seen posts every so often about "blue plate specials" or where to go to get a reasonable meal . . . and I just got an email in from the Hickory Tavern (my local pub/tavern) announcing their $6.95 Blue Plate specials.
Here is what it says: Available Mon - Fri - 11:30-2 pm.
Various things offered each day. For ex: Monday - Grilled Talapia or Chicken Colorado . . . Tuesday - Fried Chicken or Baked Spaghetti.
Also - A Veggie Plate - available every day - $5.95
I have never been to the Hickory Tavern but with these specials I think I'll have to give it a try! What are your favorites there?
Hey, Charlotteborn!
I have not ventured out to try their blue plate specials yet. My favorites are their oyster buckets and nachos, LOL. We use them more as a sports bar . . . but when going out specifically to eat . . . we like their oyster buckets.
Y'all need to check them out. They have a neighborhood feel.
gotta say I was at the Hickory tavern last week for the 1st time, had a good time but a burger fries and a coke cost me $16 with tip. that hurt the wallet a little bit.

Yeah, I don't think too many places in Charlotte charge over $9 for an order of wings either.
Still, I've never had a quality issue with the food and I suppose it makes these blue plate prices all the better.
the baked spaghetti is awesome! I always get fried okra as my side, I look forward to it on a weekly basis :-)
