Going tomorrow. It's crowded, expensive and mildly entertaining....but I go every year anyway!

I was thinking of going... How does it work? Is there an entrance fee? Are the foods really good, and can you sample many things?

No entrance fee, 30 or 40 local restuarants. The food is ok. You get like 25 tokens for $20 usually and most things are 3-5 tokens. Plenty of free samples and giveaways from sponsors. I recommend bringing a backpack with some water/beer/soda. You aren't supposed to but they dont enforce it. A 10 ounce bottle of soda is like $3 so screw that. Also, if you have some of those camping chairs bring them because there arent many places to sit. If it gets too hot we go into Rock Bottom Brewery which is huge so it doesnt get too crowded. The Culinay Arts Experience at Charlotte Shout in September is a much better, more entertaining, and professional culinary event (they always have chefs like Wolfgang, Martin Yan, and many more celebrity chefs).

I didn't think it was so great, but what do I know. I went there this afternoon because I was in the city, and I thought it was o.k but not worth the trip and traffic. I would recommed that you go and walk around, enjoy the crowd, and go to The Capital Grille for lunch or dinner.
