I was wondering what towns in Tennessee are great for easing children. We plan on moving to Tennessee and would prefer to be like 30-40 min from a city . It doesn't have to be a big city. We are looking for a house with land without going over a budget of 300,000. We have three boys and I would like to have them in private school so within a half hour of one and a town with low crime rate . If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it. Thank you

It's not in TN but just outside of chattanooga- Lookout Mountain GA. There is also Fairyland GA and Lookout MTN. Tn. These three are within 15-20 mins from chattanooga downtown but have completely different feeling. Small towns. Excellent schools. No crime at all.

Signal Mountain might be what your after. It's about 15 20 minutes from downtown with a small town feel.

I would also suggest you check out the Ooltewah/Collegedale area. It has I think one of the lowest crime rates in the region and is a quiet, peaceful town with a more rural feel to it. But, it is a growing area with lots of opportunities. There is a lot of new housing going in and if you check the Apison area just out from Collegedale, there are a lot of nice properties with newer houses and large yards for sale around your budget that are out in the "country" but also close to the conveniences of a small city. If you are interested in more land, there are lots of small micro-farms in that area that would be great for raising kids! And, it should be well within your budget.
Collegedale has a great private elementary school system. They just built a brand new state of the art middle school in fact. And, on top of it all, you are only 15 minutes from the larger town of Cleveland and about 25 minutes from downtown Chattanooga. If you are interested in public schools, there are several that are really good. Apison Elementary and SnowHill elementary are close by and from what I have heard, are great schools as well.

Consider Lynchburg, TN, home of Jack Daniels Distillery. While there is no private school, the public schools are good quality and it is close enough to Nashville, TN or Huntsville, AL for easy shopping or fun.
