Hi - we're in the process of moving (still! if you remember me!) Our house has not yet sold - hubby is living in wheaton - we're hoping to get a Feb close, or earlier. We've started looking seriously at Oswego homes, and have found one in this s/d and I'm wondering if there are any 300-lb gorillas I should know about?

Thanks so much - I love City Data - I know that I'll get honest, unbiased responses.

really? no one? Is it a s/d that anyone has even heard of? Is that the problem? Does anyone know if the s/d is still being built or if it's totally sold out and this is a resale? we're looking at a bank-owned property that's sold as is, and the first thing that jumps out at us is the lack of ANY appliances in the kitchen. Not sure if the house has ever been occupied - looks like it hasn't.

Good morning Madam. Is this the subdvision off of Wolfs Crossing/95th st? The one that was a joint venture by four or five different builders? Orleans, Neumman, etc??

Interesting - I know Orleans is involved - but it looks like they've completed their building there??
My husband drove around, lots and lots of homes for sale - some look like they were set up as models, never lived in. Can't tell if the entire s/d is bank-owned, or maybe they just stopped building, or what. Any info would be most appreciated!

I know that Neumann went out of business a while ago, 2-3 years I believe, and they were the major builder there. Lots of uncompleted homes and so on. As far as I know as of about 1.5 years ago only builder still building there was Orleans, and were grossly over priced. Every project that Neumann has abandoned in Chicagoland, and mind you their subdivisions were always huge, prices had plummeted. Than again where haven't they? I hope that helped.

Thanks, that does help. We've had similar builders (St.Lawrence comes to mind in Raleigh) big - multi-builder s/d that go belly up. Look up "Hasentree" for a grandiose bankruptcy. When the project began, prospective buyers were brought to the property by helicopter. By 18 months later, the bank called the note!

This is actually a nice area of Oswego on Wolf's Crossing. Good schools and shopping close by. Plus Angelo Ca****s grocery store isn't too far from here either(best health food store that I know of) I am a tennis player, I love this subdivisions tennis courts, they seem to have a nice club house and pool as well. As far as home value, yes there are many homes for sale over there but not as many foreclosures as you would find across the street at the Churchill Club subdivision.
