Forgive me on this dumb and rather trivial question, but I really wanted to know:

we went to lunch yesterday at Salerno's in Vernon Hills (I thought the food was very good). We ordered a pizza to go afterwards and on the box, it said the restaurant (not this location) dates back to 1966.

Back some time around that era, we used to go to a pizza place in Morton Grove called Salerno's. I asked the staff it had been part of the same restaurant group, but they didn't know.

On their website, their locations were listed. Mention was made of the original location (Berwyn) which is gone, but no other former locations.

Does anyone know if this is the same Salerno's that was in Morton Grove. The pizza was VERY good and, if remember, similiar to the one we had many time in MG years ago.

Pretty sure Morton Grove was part of the same business. As I recall the orignal operation had a period of expansion and family still ran everything. As often happens after that they tried to franchise with mixed results. Many stores closed and some were run by non- family franchise owners under different names. Some eventfully closed.

Taxes to the original family are brutal when things are not structured correctly and there is death with estate taxes...

Lots of crummy pizza places get the business end done right while too many good pizza makers let bad business advise ruin 'em...

i remember it was on the south side of Dempster in Morton Grove and the pizza was very good. What you say makes sense....close some places, open others.

The website Salerno's Pizza - Our History clearly lists the former locations and Morton Grove is not listed. If you feel strongly, you could send a letter to ask if they forgot to add Morton Grove their web site.
