Would anyone have information/thoughts about what the area in Deerfield on/off Inverrary Lane is like? There are a LOT of condos/townhouses. Is that a rental area? Or are the homes mostly owned? Is it a safe area as far as having a young child/young family? I've read many of the forums here where many of you advise to stay away from areas that are highly concentrated with rental units. But I'm not sure if these are rental properties? Is it a nice area of Deerfield?

Thank you!

I lived there in the late '90s. They are owned condos, individual units might be rented out but it's not an area with the kind of problems you see in big apartment complexes. When I lived there, there were plenty of families and children - being in District 102/Stevenson HS is a huge draw and this area is much more affordable than living in Buffalo Grove or Lincolnshire. I don't know if it's gone downhill since I lived there but I can't imagine it has changed too much. The school district is going to attract people who are invested in their children's education, as people who aren't can get a whole house for the same price a few blocks away in Wheeling.

I've worked in the area for 11+ years, and lived nearby for ~2 of those. The inverarry area seems quiet, but comes off as a high rental area. Being next to the Chevy Chase apartments doesn't help.

The areas on the east and west sides of Milwaukee, between Lake Cook and Aptikisic roads, are also extremely flood prone. It's flooded out pretty severely each spring for the last 2 or 3 years, which included road closures. And by flood I mean 1+ feet in some of the lower lying lots. Lots of annoying signal outages at 21 & Inverarry, also.

You might look in the area around Ivy Hall elementary school (Buffalo Grove), or the neighborhood just north of the Target (Buffalo Grove) on Lake Cook road. Can't remember the street name...
Good luck!
