When you are driving through I pass and it says speed limit 15 can you actually get a ticket? Saw someone drive through tonight and there was a flash all the cars were going about 25.

I thought the flash acknowledged that the driver had an Ipass.

The 15MPH sign is not a speed limit sign, it is a recommended speed because of the transponders.

I've driven 45mph through one of those things without any problems. The scanners are built with the same functionality as the open road tolling - 55,60,65mph.

It ain’t a “suggestion”.

While you are correct that the same devices that accurately read the signal to take your toll from “open road” lanes 75 mph are used in the lanes with posted limits of 15 mph, that limit has nothing to do with “hardware”.

It is designed to keep the toll workers safe and prevent collisions. Troopers have written tickets when the workers get “buzzed” and when such careless drivers exceed the 15 mph limit by 25 mph or more the ticket is not just speeding but reckless driving — higher fine! Potential license suspension!

The hardware is technically capable of recording your speed vis Doppler effect, just like radar, but currently Illinois vehicle code has standards for verification of driver identity that require police to witness driver...
